flakey pie crust!

This pie crust is very versatile. It can be used to make a fruit filled pie, savory pies and hand pies. It needs to be made at least 2 hours in advance so that it has time to chill, allowing the butter to re solidify.

What you need:

  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, chilled and cut into tiny pieces
  • 1/4 cup ice water

In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add in butter pieces and combine (either with your hands or with a mixer) until mixture resembles course crumbs. Slowly, add in water a little bit at a time until mixture holds together, but is still a little dry. Form a ball, wrap in saran wrap and refrigerate 2 hours-overnight.
